Morgenstern
You thank your alternative selves, and you start to leave--but before you do, you have one more question.

You ask if error-Fuse remembers what happened with Faraday, in his version of events.

"You..." he breathes in harshly. "you did Incident F. You can... handle it. It'll... w-wear you out. Bad. But it's... worth it."

You and Fuse leave the error room.

You give Fuse a moment to recover from... all of that. The whole thing.

It takes him a while to say anything. "...I'm glad we found out," he says. "We need to stop this, we needed to know about it." He takes another second to gather himself. He shakes his head. "I don't... ever wanna go back in there, though. Not if I don't have to. Fuck almighty. ...Fuck."

You signal to Michelle to help you switch the doors around, and you all head back to Bunker A.

"We got pizza," Michelle says.

Caius gives a nod, turning back toward you. "'Ey, yeah. I don't really remember tha phone number for tha pizza place, but I've dialed it before? The ear thing kinda helped me remember how to call 'em."

"It may utilize a mechanism not dissimilar to cleantex," Dr. Finch suggests. "Something to do with connecting or strengthening key neural pathways, albeit focused... fairly explicitly on communication routes. That's purely speculation on my part, though, there's a very real alternate possibility that--"

"Dr. Finch," Fuse says flatly, "I would love to hear about this later I swear to god but we have something bigger to worry about."

You start to explain everything you found out--about Hope, Grizwald, and the events that you're going to try and prevent.

"...My word," replies Dr. Finch.

Caius looks at Fuse. "You got Lydia's phone number, right? It'll be safer to call her with tha ear thing."

Fuse nods, pulling his phone out to start looking for the number. "Yeah, gimme a sec."

"I'll call Jury," Michelle suggests. "It's a straight up kidnapping, nothin' oughta tie her hands on this one."

Michelle steps outside to call Jury while Caius uses the alien device to call Lydia. They have a short conversation, with Caius... clearly trying to avoid telling Lydia too much. Slightly at the behest of Fuse, who makes various motions with his hands to keep it quiet. Caius hangs up.

"Yeah," Caius says, someone somberly. "She said tha Griz has been out a while, but he does this all tha time. She said she'll let 'em know we called when he gets back."

"Dammit," Fuse grumbles.

"Where would they be keeping him?," Dr. Finch asks. "What resources do Hope and his associates have access to?"

"I dunno," Fuse says, angrily throwing his hands up. "No idea. We know he'll be at the church Sunday morning, they'd have to be dumb as hell to keep him there until then."

"I mean..." Caius trails off a little before giving a shrug. "They are dumb as hell, though. Right? You were sayin' that before."

"...Yeah," Fuse finally admits. "They're pretty stupid. They might be that stupid, stupid enough to keep Grizwald right there at the church."

Michelle returns. "Jury said she's down. She can't bring in a strike team or nothin', but if Hope's really kidnapped a homeless guy Jury don't give a damn about the paperwork. We call her, she'll be there. We got 'til Sunday, right? And today's... uh..."

"Thursday," Dr. Finch confirms. "We have until Sunday morning, when Brother Hope broadcasts his television show."

"Once that congregation's there, shit goes sideways," Fuse says.

"And the cameras," Michelle points out. "The live broadcast might have somethin' to do with why Blondie was in prison clothes. We definitely don't wanna put this off 'til Sunday."

Fuse nods. "If we hit 'em now--"

Caius holds up a hand, immediately stopping Fuse. "Hold up. I'm with ya, but you're comin' right outta some messed up stuff and Blondie's been a ghost half tha day. We do this, we do this right. We save it 'til at least tomorrow--we know Grizwald ain't goin' nowhere."

"Wow, Caius," Michelle remarks. "I thought you'd be right there with 'em, wantin' to go light the place up ASAP."

"Oh, I ain't sayin' we should sit on our asses," Caius replies. "I think we oughta take a swing at Bunker X, see if we can get somethin' to blow tha place up with."

"You lost me," Fuse says with a very slight smile, "but then you got me back. Yeah, Bunker X is an alright idea."

"Blondie did still do all that ghost stuff today," Michelle states, "plus whatever the error room did to y'all's state o' mind. Bunker X might not be a great idea, either."

Caius shrugs. "Pshhh, it's tha first floor. Blondie can sit it out, it ain't a thing."

Dr. Finch scratches at his chin, looking quite skeptical. "Without a frame of reference for the nature or degree of the challenges, I suspect that entering blind without one of our most versatile individuals would be a terrible mistake."

"It's Blondie's call," Michelle says, glancing back to you. "I got no problems goin' in, but... yeah, I'm kinda with the Finch on this one. You ain't 100%, and we ain't 100% without you."

At some point, we should send one of our rodent troops to scout out the church. See if they are, in fact, as dumb as we think they might be.

Let's sleep on Bunker X until the morning when everyone is refreshed. Offer Fuse a dreamless sleep (if it's possible).
skybirds15 5th May 2018, 1:44 AM edit delete reply
Dreamless sleep is a bad idea becuase of Nil. Guy would probably love to jump into Fuse's brain just to fuck with us.
Blue_Elite 5th May 2018, 3:18 AM edit delete reply
Nil isn't a boogieman. Xe has to have a presence in you already for the dreamless sleep thing to be a negative.

Though granted I don't get what a "dreamless" sleep is supposed to achieve. Perhaps it was meant to help Fuse go to sleep because this was disturbing or maybe stay asleep in case of nightmares specifically?
EDIT: We removed Nil's presence from Fuse a long time ago in case that was the concern. Macland is currently the only one we, "care," about that still has Nil's presence in him.

nil should no longer have a foothold in fuse's brain. we removed the memory that it had latched on to.
skybirds15 5th May 2018, 4:09 PM edit delete reply
This was one of those better safe than sorry things for me, cause Nil does have a foothold somewhere in the Red/us, and knows about it, so he might be able to cheat a little on that one.

Give Caius a ball of stuff from the red with our blood in it. It's the first floor but if it is too difficult you can spear whatever's in there with bone.

Sounds good. Jane can still provide help without going in if shit gets dicey, but if the gang wants to give it a go, I say we let them. I think we can handle it.

While we're on the subject of biological warfare, did you know that tungsten is a biological element? We can, in theory, mass produce tungsten equipment.

Biological refinement of metals is an interesting topic... anything molecular that you are aware of in your body you could theoretically manipulate.

Hold off until tomorrow. I'd rather go in completely over-prepared and come out of the first floor with nary a scratch and basically be 98% good to either begin the assault on Hope OR even go straight to floor 2 if we do cake-walk the first floor for further goodies.
Michelle/Caius getting badly wounded because we're overconfident will just all-around slow us down.
So get a good night sleep, wake up tomorrow and make some fresh bone armour. And let's tackle the first floor as a team. It'll be good to let Fuse blow some steam after tonight's events as well.

All that said, we can still get some prep-work done on the Hope raid tonight. We've got Allen at Zene's house and Poe at the Hummer/Cam's hospital (which I'm assuming we want to keep as we'll need to get that back for the Hope mission). I propose we find out where Hope's TV studio/church is and send Allen to it or at least get it in position there.
EDIT: Also might want to send a rat to that area as well to scout inside for Grizwald. I propose sending Clyde.

Hmm. From the sounds of things, we're going to need some firepower for the big monster.
Don't suppose our contacts could net us a thing of thermite and some shrapnel rounds?
We could throw em both in a trade ritual with some standard ammunition for something pretty nasty.
...Probably real volatile, too. Shouldn't do this upgrade ritual in the bunker.
Gonna also want some hefty cover, just in case.

I think rescuing Grizwald is the first thing we ought to do tomorrow; the longer we put it off, the more complete Hope's preparations will be, which at minimum means a pretty good chance of a large, if not giant, monster. Taking bunker X with everyone (though probably excluding Finch and Elizabeth, unless they're feeling especially adventurous), but keeping Blondie in the back of the party for emergencies (and maybe using some of the energizing tricks we used on Caius before) sounds like a good/quick way to prepare.

Damn, I get sick and the fun stuff happens. Shit.

Anywho, we can throw a wrench in the plan from here almost without lifting a finger. Hopes public image is everything to him, remember? We have two allies (simi-allies) whom know a LOT about Hope, meaning they know how to shred his ego like a blender. They also know how he'll respond to such an attack.

Regardless of the call on Bunker-X, we need to contact Macland Row for some advice on this, and some help if defacing his image turns out to be a good idea. (BIG "if")

Matt wanted to keep that separate from Blood is Mine and it's community, for reasons. (Mostly because it's NSFW.)

I think we need whatever we can get of Floor 1.

Let's prepare for it:

-Make new Bone Armor for Michelle, Caius, and Fuse.
-Give them a Meat Ball from where to create Bone Weapons depending of the things they met in the Bunker X.
-Prepare the BEST weapons he have. And give them a decent amount of Bloodied things, to Blood their enemies and maybe attacking them yourself
-Send Fuse, Michelle, and Caius to Floor 1 of Bunker X.
-Let Jane be the administrator of this expedition. Let her put ALL of her focus in supporting the group. Giving them Boosts when needad in what they need, mantaining their bodies in peak shape in every moment, etc. With Finch ready to Sync to give his medical knowledge, and Lyz prepared to search for information in Geoangular Control.

We need to act now. In this situation, every day we don't use to the fullest can be the Trigger of our impending doom.
Guest 5th May 2018, 2:37 AM edit delete reply
Sleep it out, and attempt Bunker X with a full squad.

Oops, posted under wrong chapter.

We should ask Mac if he can get us some heavy duty equipment. See if we can get anything extra via gratitude by telling him we saved him from becoming mulch flooding Thale's tunnels.
1977 5th May 2018, 3:29 AM edit delete reply
If I see that right we have 2 days to sort out the following in no particular order:

- help Faraday
- see what is on the other side of the bunker X door
- solve at least the first floor of bunker X
- find Grizwald
- maybe some rituals?
- feed the martians
- Ilworth ghost hunting?
Blue_Elite 5th May 2018, 3:50 AM edit delete reply
The Faraday thing is not anything we have to hurry. That's more of a long-term goal that'll benefit us in the long-run (power to Ilworth, place for blooded refugees to stay that's not Mars, etc.) rather than the short-run (ghost hugs not withstanding).
1977 5th May 2018, 4:27 AM edit delete reply
If you only want short-term goals then i can reduce the list to only one point and that is Grizwald. Everything else is kinda long-term, that's right.
I listed things we could do in these 2 days without much effort that could benefit us before we go rescue Grizwald.
I was even tempted to include destroying Lasker in the list since it is the easiest of our long-term goals, but we don't know yet were Site Seventeen is located so we can't do it right now, additionally it is no benefit to our current problem unless the monster we're fighting is the missing part of Lasker but even they are not that stupid.
Blue_Elite 5th May 2018, 5:40 AM edit delete reply
To clarify: Solving the Faraday situation won't help us in dealing with Hope/rescuing Grizwald and does not have a time limit attached to it.
If we duplicate Incident F and get Faraday back in order, Jane loses about 24 hours of effectiveness and we still have to deal with Hope within the time limit given. I'm saying we shouldn't do anything regarding the Faraday matter for exactly that reason. We can deal with Hope, rescue Grizwald, and then resolve the Faraday issue with no negative consequences. Resolving the Faraday issue before Hope/Grizwald, however, gives us 1 less day to prepare for precisely that.
In other words, we don't have only 2 days to sort out the Farady matter. We do however have only 2 days to sort out the Hope/Grizwald matter.

Obvious choices

1) Incident F. A chance to gain abilities for ourself

2) Bunker X. Grind for abilities and items.

3) prep for rescue mission. Trade up some armor, run animals for intelligence.

As mentioned by others the only time sensitive item is rescuing Grizwald. I think we need to focus on preparing for a serious rescue mission.

We need Intel and more. A location, a plan... start with finding the vial tha Griz has. It may or may not still be in his possession. Listen through it before anything else. If it seems safe then Morse code (we have been practicing, right?)

We also need top notch equipment so prepare for that.

The emergency meatball concept sound like it should be practiced. It might be useful.

Edit: preparing for a rescue or a gauntlet will be pretty similar. It is possible that notification might head this off... but I expect Grizwald is already captured.

"I think we need to focus on preparing for a serious rescue mission."
This gives me a terrible idea. We should prepare for a silly rescue mission: we should all wear our tinfoil hats just for Grizwald (or at least bring one for him in case they took his, poor guy).

We should let the team take a run at Bunker X. 1st floors on ANY dungeon are never that hard, and I have a feeling this will be the same. Besides, Michelle has those new arms and the pistol-ammo-using minigun. They should be fine. We should also get a feel of where the blood we gave Grizwald is in the meantime. Might help give a clue to where we can find him.

One trying to kill us, one trying to help...

Which means there's a chance we could make it through the whole thing in one go, hypothetically, but it'd be close. Possibly the 'kill-us' party thinking we'd go until we pushed to hard and too fast, which means the first few levels would have to be enticing to get us to where it kill us... the problem is pacing ourselves slow enough to avoid the inevitable difficulty spike. (So if any floors start to push us hard, that means we need to break and prep quite a ways because the next one will likely spike.)
