You wake up the next day to fancy bagels. Fuse checks on--and brings food to--the people on Mars, while Caius and Dr. Finch check on Faraday and Tesla. Everyone seems to have readied themselves for finding the hackers.

Once everyone's back together in Bunker A, you all go over the plan.

"Fuse and I will head to Southden," Dr. Finch states. "If Ace of Cups can't put us in touch with Lovers, then we'll begin asking around the pubs associated with the local fight scene."

Fuse takes over. "I'll offer my hacking skills in exchange for computers and a temporary place to use them. We get two computers, Blondie syncs us, we move into position."

"Once they're in place," Michelle says, "me, Blondie, and Caius head to the hospital. We plug in Fuse's USB, and the boys in Southden start the 'hack.' We'll need to keep each other informed, 'cuz as soon as the hackers get their printer back..."

"We're gonna have monsters," Caius states.

"We can't rule out Carpenter, either," Michelle says. "We don't know where all those tunnels go, or if Carpenter's usin' 'em. He might be able to get a robot there pretty quick."

"Bone armor was made in pieces and put together after," Caius says, "which is good, 'cuz it comes apart, too. We roll up lookin' like some fantasy shit we're gonna get tha cops called on us, but we can bring tha armor in duffel bags and put it on after we get there."

"We might still get the cops called on us," Michelle says. "I'm one half-face burn away from lookin' like a certain wanted criminal, remember? So, we gotta keep an eye out for that. Robots an' monsters we can deal with, I don't wanna go gunnin' for cops."

"We can attempt a few rituals," Dr. Finch states, "but their exhaustive properties should be a concern."

"I thought about trying to upgrade the bone armor," Fuse comments, "but... yeah. The armor takes time and energy for Blondie to whip up, the ritual wears the user down, and we're not guaranteed to get something usable out of it." He throws a very deliberate glance at the smaller you.

"So if we even bother," Caius concludes, "we need to keep it somethin' small, or we ain't gettin' stuff done today. Got it."

"We only have the vaguest hint of what we're in for," Dr. Finch says. "We don't know how prepared Patton and his hackers are for a move like this. We may be swatting at the hornet's nest... or we may well be catching our foes with their proverbial pants down."

"...The motorcycle has room for three. Doesn't it?," Elizabeth asks.

There's a brief silence.

"It... does, yeah," Fuse replies.

Elizabeth doesn't nod, or change expressions... she simply continues speaking. "I would like to participate in the Southden portion of the plan, if that wouldn't complicate things."

Dr. Finch adjusts his glasses... hesitantly. "In order for you to contribute to our hacking efforts, you would need to be synced."

"I understand that," Elizabeth replies. "I allowed you my person with the promise that I could aid in Patton Thale's downfall. I am not being granted that by staying in this bunker. I am not a fighter, and would not be of use on that front. I can, however, operate a computer well enough, and I can be synced. ...Clearly."

There's another tense silence around the room.

"...We could talk Lovers into three computers," Fuse finally says.

Michelle turns to you. "Your call, boss."

Honestly, why not? She hates Thale more than she hates us, so I don't see why we shouldn't allow her to help.
Swagner 21st Apr 2018, 4:47 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, there's not really a downside. Even if she tries to betray us or something, that's easy enough to stop.
Wote 21st Apr 2018, 2:50 PM edit delete reply
I say we allow it. Even if we can't score three boxes, having an extra body with the hackers—whether it's Finch or Elizabeth—isn't going to be a disadvantage. Plus, girl's showing some initiative and I'll be damned if we're gonna swat her down.

It's a strange situation where syncing might actually lead to her establishing more of her own personality, and yet here it is :P I say go for it, and I hope she finds it as fulfilling as I expect it will be.

Yeah i say sure why not, southden is probably the safest place, better than the city, and shes right when she says that shes not being useful, so sure. Just when asking lovers, specify 2-3 terminals, lets not just out right say 3. Make it seem less necessary so lovers can take the easier road if need be

Elizabeth, you are starting to be cute XD. If you want to help with the hacking, do it!

Let's get everyone prepared, all the weapons and armor needed need to be hidden in something transportable... But I guess that, since everything is going to go to hell anyways, they simply need to put it before entering the hospital XD. And we need to get bloodied the good quality bandages that Finch got in the ritual.

I would like to take the Mini-Jane to the mission... But cuteness don't win Fights XD.

But we need to tell the Maiden in love of the hospital te let her evacuate before doing this? Or it can expose the plan?

Get ready and move on!

Maybe not a full evac., just warn people to keep their distance from the bio printers rooms.
Fishbulb 21st Apr 2018, 3:34 PM edit delete reply
And maybe wait until the plan is right about to be in motion. We know that nobody at the hospital was Queened before, but they might be now.
echo 21st Apr 2018, 2:59 PM edit delete reply
She makes a good point.
pkrankow 21st Apr 2018, 2:59 PM edit delete reply
Do it. Three is better than two.

I just had a fearful though. Could Thale have hidden a sealed packet that we missed. Walking bomb type of thing. Do a quick check and make sure Liz is good, heck check everybody in general.

Yeah let's sync up with Elizabeth for a few seconds first just to see if she'll resist.

I really don't like the option of syncing Elizabeth. Jane would become, for that period of time, a very intrusive entity in Elizabeth's mind - and she doesn't like Jane. Even if Elizabeth hates Thale more... I still find it an uncomfortable proposition.

I also don't see why Elizabeth even requires a sync to be helpful to the hacking efforts. She can clearly use a computer, she can take directions - she can do simple but necessary data-grinding on one computer while Fuse and Dr. Finch pull out the heavy lifting.

Finally, any ideas of "if we sync with her maybe we can lessen her hate for Jane" sound equally bad. Elizabeth is entitles to her hate and any sort of sync-based tampering with her compass just rings a lot of bad bells.

I know this isn't the most popular opinion, but hey - if we all had the same opinion, commenting would be useless.

We'd be syncing Elizabeth with Fuse, not with Jane. Also Elizabeth very clearly indicated she's willing to, at minimum, tolerate being synced to go forward with the plan. She's the one volunteering to be synced.

We COULD do 2 computers and one of team-hackers serves as a guard (at the very least they could warn if someone tries to enter the room). Since Fuse is a given, that'd leave either Dr. Finch or Elizabeth. I'd go with Dr. Finch as the guard simply because I really want to encourage Elizabeth being more extroverted (not to mention until we fix her up, Elizabeth is physically the weakest member of our group).
This is again only in case we end up with 2 computers as opposed to 3.

So, focusing on the team-bioprinter: First we need a good cover story for both Cam and not-Cam people. Cam might be willing to give us the benefit of the doubt, but we gotta make sure the other staff don't call the police on us. I was thinking the angle of Michelle being framed to prevent her from further investigating the monsters (mostly true on its face AND the staff know the monsters are real).
Then ask if we can get the top floor (or any bioprinter floor, I'm just assuming top would be easiest) to ourselves and if they could shut off the other bioprinters temporarily while we perform a follow-up investigation on a, "confirmed, tampered bioprinter." Also point out things may get loud and say to give an excuse of it being construction work on the bioprinter (unless anyone else can think of a better excuse for gunfire).

Then Michelle can sweep Cam off her feet and... oh uh, I guess THAT part isn't necessary per say.
Anyway, this all assumes we're even doing this today. The Deck might want us to work up front before doing us the favor. In that case, we may want to take Michelle and Caius to the first floor of Bunker X (now that we've got armor, I'm feeling a lot better about trying it out).

Quick Edit: Don't forget Fuse may need a hat while driving into Southden. Once they're underground things should be fine, but evidently anime hair is a sign of mutants and we don't want police to discover his robo-leg ON TOP of that.

One thing I like about the idea of syncing with elizabeth is that she'll be working as part of the team. Might make her feel like less of an outsider.
Hermit 21st Apr 2018, 5:41 PM edit delete reply
After last night, maybe she secretly wants that too.
Mochi 21st Apr 2018, 5:44 PM edit delete reply
let liz help. she wants to, and she deserves to get to do her part to kneecap pattywhack after what she's been through.
undeadDreamer 21st Apr 2018, 8:54 PM edit delete reply
Just remove the biopaste and no monsters. Also Elizabeth helping hacking would be useful.

just realized this wasn't the most recent update.
