You wake up the next day, and you all have a big, assorted breakfast. Your group almost immediately gets to talking about the next step.

You suggest that you'd like to blood more animals--maybe using your ravens and cats to lure in or catch other creatures. With a whole bunch of animals, you can send them into the tunnels, and start to scout them out.

"With that many minds..." Dr. Finch begins, "you will need to be constantly diverting your attention back and forth to get anything out of it. You'd likely need to cleantex yourself, as well, just to keep the rapid input from being all that disorienting. The alternative would be letting the animals explore on their own, then syncing them for their experience afterward, however..."

"Syncin' with animals is still weird, and we ain't tried it yet," Michelle finishes.

Dr. Finch nods. "We don't know what animal mentality bleeding into a human mind would be like. ...And equally concerning, perhaps, an animal has less figurative mind than a human does. There's not just the threat of you taking on too much cat--there's the possibility that a cat could be oversynced at an accelerated rate."

"Plus consent," Fuse says. "Can't ask an animal's permission to sync, which means forcing a sync. Adventuring into Cat World is probably not as fun as it sounds."

"In short," Dr. Finch concludes, "syncing to the animal scouts is far less desirable than simply monitoring them, but since you can only truly focus on one perspective at a time... well. Doing this properly would take the entirety of your attention for the length of the exploration."

You also suggest that Dr. Finch talks with Pierce more, and continues to study the book. Dr. Finch nods.

"I agree wholeheartedly," he says. "After giving it more thought, I believe what Geoangular Control has to say about ghosts may make a major difference in our approach to Faraday."

"I also wanna try that tradin' stuff ritual today," Michelle suggests. "We know the tradesmen ain't gonna eat us, at least. Dumpin' off a bunch o' crappy guns to try and get a cool one might be good practice for doin' spells. Heck, after all that last night, they might wanna throw in a little extra or somethin'."

"I'm still figuring out the details..." Fuse starts, "but I think we can lure out the hackers. We know they'll wanna stop us if we try and un-screw a bioprinter. ...I'm thinking, maybe if we rig it up to trace where an incoming counter-hack is coming from, then try to "fix" a printer at one of the city's hospitals, we could bait them into telling us where they are. The only problems are... well, one, the last time they knew we were in a hospital we had monsters coming after us. So, that's a thing. Two, they're not totally bad at this--they're gonna bounce signals and make it hard to pinpoint a real origin. So when--IF we do this--we're looking at a fight, and we're looking at a chance at failure. I don't imagine it'll be a big window... if I can't work through their bullshit in that time frame, it'll be a huge waste and I doubt they'll fall for it more than once."

"Psh, you got this," Caius says.

"Seriously," Michelle adds. "You already hacked a bunch o' stuff nobody should be able to. I ain't worried."

Fuse smiles a little. "Well, we should be worried about the monster part, then. Thale's rigging up macros to the printers, and we've already survived some complete BS. If they get a chance to full blown murder us they're gonna take it. We're gonna want to be ready when we do this--until then, I'll start thinking about the best way to pull it off on my end."

You'd also like to find time, at some point, to work with Elizabeth more--both physically and mentally. ...And to get that property bought in Ilworth, though your funds are starting to look slim after all that shopping.

...It suddenly occurs to you just how much there is to do, and you're barely sure where to get started.

I think blooding the animals is a good start. We don't have to start scouting today, so just having them ready to go is a good plan.

I suppose Michelle can try the trading ritual.
Don't see any harm from doing so.

As for funds, we could see about the fight club again, if Caius is interested.

So how about... if... we just blood the ATM at Thale's bank?
Twyll 13th Apr 2018, 8:33 PM edit delete reply
At this point, now that we have papers, we should hopefully be able to trade some of our not-US currency for not-UK currency semi-legally, instead of having to earn it in cage fights. If nothing else, we want Caius in prime shape for whatever we end up having to do about the bioprinter hacker honeypot, because that *will* probably involve fighting monstrosities at some point.

Michelle seems to really want to try the trading ritual with the guns. I think she should.
Twyll 13th Apr 2018, 6:19 PM edit delete reply
Meditation first. We can handle this. Starting out the day calm and collected will help. Again, we could ALL probably do with some meditation-- it might even help Faraday. Even if we don't do our meditation club with them, we should check in on Faraday and Tesla.

The most urgent thing is the tunnels. Even if it'll take a lot of Jane's focus, I think scouting the tunnels is a good thing to do. Michelle can do the ritual on her own with some of the guns; she doesn't need Jane's help for that. Finch and Pierce can work on Geoangular Control and Fuse can work on his hacking thing. We don't know how long it'll take for any of them to make breakthroughs, so we don't need to worry about scheduling anything else beyond that.

Buying property is not so urgent. We can just take quick breaks throughout the day to check in with Elizabeth. Faraday has survived this long in her current state, and it's unlikely to get drastically worse-- indeed, she seems to have improved somewhat on her own, given that the scientists couldn't detect her at all. Just having Tesla there is probably a huge source of support.

A lot of what we have to do can be done in small steps. Don't get overwhelmed! Focus on acquiring the animals for the tunnel exploration first, and let Fuse do his thing-- we won't be able to make a more specific plan related to that until he's started his work anyways.

We can have Zene, Mav, Crease, Pierce, and Elizabeth come with us for catching rats and such in Ilworth, if we want to make an outing of it.

first should really pin down whether we want more animals to try and scout the tunnel or not or just to have them in case

Second, should help Finch and Pierce work on what we need to do for Faraday and how helpful Geoangular Control will be in that

Third, should either be Printer Hack backtrace or Deals with the Tradesmen if we do the Bioprinter hack we should go to that Hospital that we went to for Caius' operation that we might have some friends on staff that might let us have more free reign then if we go somewhere else

Later should be Therapy with Elizabeth

after that figure out how to get some more money and Start on Ilworth project rest should be see as we go

Even if it is risky we should try and experiment Syncing with an animal just see if it completely impossible or if we could do it as a last resort I suggest using a Mouse or Rat as they have a higher sense of awareness as oppose to a Bird or cat they may actually give consent to a sync if we can somehow convey it thru the blood

I still am saying we start with blooding the doors.
psychoshen 13th Apr 2018, 6:50 PM edit delete reply
Seems like some of the ideas are based on blood. Jane may want to practice pulling blood from the red, so that the group can stockpile some for animals and other projects.
CiciEnixa 13th Apr 2018, 7:10 PM edit delete reply
So I dunno if anyone's suggested it yet, but I remember a mention of it being easier for Faraday to "pull herself together" if she was in... a similar form of how she used to be? And I was thinking... can she "possess" a Proto Jury? It's a humanoid shape, it's a robot-y thing that electricity can probably run through. Would that help?

We should get some of the old cars from Ilworth and use the trade spell and sell them. And if
We're going after the hackers we should probably get fuse a better computer to track them either we take howlers or get a bunch of old ones and use the trade spell.
Twyll 13th Apr 2018, 8:36 PM edit delete reply
Oooh, now THAT'S a thought, trading the old cars. The issue is that we might end up with something that doesn't run on fuel produced on Earth, or that is obviously alien and would draw attention to us if we tried to sell it. Also, I wonder if we can trade things that don't necessarily fit into your standard ritual circle... But it's definitely worth trying.

There might be a lot of compatibility issues with whatever the Tradesmen give us in return for computers. Like, computers have to be able to interface with things-- if we get something *too* advanced, it'll be hard to use it to hack computers at our current level of technology.
AE-86 13th Apr 2018, 8:47 PM edit delete reply
Well we should test it we could get anything like
it could be a future car or just a normal car who knows i mean it depends we could just get a present day car i mean the carrs were trading are older.
Phyco 13th Apr 2018, 8:49 PM edit delete reply
An interesting idea with the cars but it's usefulness would likely be limited unless we can get our hypothetical new car through the door.
AE-86 13th Apr 2018, 8:53 PM edit delete reply
Hm you're right. But can we just make the ritual circle bigger and maybe make it outside or in a warehouse.
Twyll 13th Apr 2018, 9:17 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, we could do the ritual in Ilworth.

Tunnel mapping should be prett easy if Fuse can rig up some small radio frequency generators to be deposited at tunnel entrances with known real world locations. Give your animal friends some small radio receivers hooked up to jump drives to swallow and have them run around the tunnels for a day, then poo the receiver drive pills out somewhere you can collect them. Look at the relative strength of the signals from the base stations in the recording and you should be able get a map of the tunnel over time. Receiver pills are good because they’ll keep anyone from getting suspicious about animal friends wearing electronic gear.

Regarding cracking door codes, we’ve only got it running on like two computers at the moment, right? Let’s buy some time on a secure server farm (ideally with as close to milspec encryption as we can get), emulate the card readers, and run that on a million machines. Should have all the codes in an hour or so.
