You tell Michelle and Caius the plan.

You try to spray your fire extinguisher, but it has run out.

Edison gets the needle free. She reels back, looking like she's going to shove it straight into the side of Fuse's neck--

Michelle fires her gun into the ceiling.

Edison stops for just a moment, just an instant, giving Caius enough time to re-position his grip. He swings the canister downward, barely catching the back of Edison's head and knocking her off of Fuse. Fuse stumbles forward. Edison tries to recover, but Caius turns the canister in his hands... and promptly shoves it over her, trapping her inside.

Edison starts to try and pull herself through the underside of the cafeteria table, but Fuse bends a bit... and lights the underside of the table on fire. Edison recoils back into the tube.

You all look at each other for a moment... before Caius turns, hopping off the table and hustling back out into the hall.

He grabs the lid, he brings it back, and after much careful maneuvering... Michelle and Caius manage to get the lid back on the canister. You all hold your breath, still not 100% certain if it will hold...

but nothing happens.

You don't hear anything going on inside. Edison doesn't come crawling out the side of the tube. The lights don't flicker. Slowly, Michelle peels her tin foil hat off... and shrugs.

"I think we got her, guys."

Find Jury and take her back to base. Take Edison to base too. Leave a note saying you don't have to be enemies and maybe you might be able to save Macland.
Auron 19th Nov 2017, 2:46 AM edit delete reply
maybe the Macland thing is is a bit risky.

we should leave Edison in the mars portion of the bunkers..... or maybe see if the caretaker Jurys have a spot to keep them indefinitely...... or we could stick it in that hell parrot area then forget the combination. Though that seems like a very neglectful ticking time bomb..... Yeah that's a very stupid Idea from me. Let's not do that.

Considering what Edison did to Jury Prime, "trapped on mars" is probably our best shot for containment.
Speaking of Jury, let's go collect her pieces. Maybe the other ones can put her back together.

Say can Fuse do the job of a welding torch? I think that we should weld the lid on this "Genie bottle" so to speak..... Err, actually, maybe we should just put it into a slightly larger drum and weld that one shut. then make plans to drop that into a volcano once we have the time and resources.

Now let's go get Finch and put Jury back together. Then we should see if Shirai is willing to talk via a secure net line..... Think we can jury-rig some internet to Mars? just so if Shirai's people manage to trace the call they'd find it on an entirely different planet.

Also, we need to hug Fuse, for being so quick to act.

I know this may seem grim, but think about it - That canister dates back to the prime time of Zone Fifty. That's over 100 years ago, meaning that this "kid", Edison, is over 100 years old. That's no kid to me.

Crack open the container, and flood it.

What if she was held in cryo for those years and they thawed her out?

Or possibly, what if they found a canister that was intended for something completely different? But it just happened to work with Edison too?

Another thing could have been that Jury brought it as a precaution.

I second going on a Jury body-part hunt; better let Dr. Finch know we're all okay too, he's probably really worried. If he has any ideas what to do with the Edison canister that'd be great because I don't know if bringing her back with us is that great of an idea. They might have put a tracker on the canister? -_-? Also not sure we want something so dangerous on our mantelpiece so to speak.

Also second just letting everyone know how much we appreciate each of them for their quick thinking and for generally being awesome, yada yada. <3 (And omg thank you Fuse for picking the right door. >_>a)

We still need to feed her and get her to a bathroom on occasion.

What if Carpenter was the one who messed her psyche up?

I feel that Jury would know best of how to get Edison to a secure facility where she could be talked to and given an actual education about the world.

Also, imagine the propaganda that could be used against us if we let her die in the barrel? "Child Killer" is not a good thing to have on anyone's card.

I can't tell how serious you're being, Baer... -v- Internet!

Anyway, in case you're being serious - Edison is 100+ years old and still has the form of a child. I doubt she needs to be fed or watered or whatnot to survive; what sustains her, if she needs sustenance at all, is likely to be something quite different from human needs. There is also implication she's been in that canister for quite some time and only let out on occasion, so I highly doubt that she would die in there. If anything, it's most likely because she *can't* be killed, at least not conventionally, that she's been stored in such a place to begin with. That's just my speculations, though!

Seconding looking for the remaining pieces of Jury. So far we got an arm and her head, what happened to the rest ?

You know who'd Edison probably like? That guy on the other side of Bunker C's door. I'd bet they'd get along swimmingly. And concrete doesn't really carry a charge.

Mission: Jury-rig is a go. Objectives: Gather all Jury parts. Put them together. Did we ever tell Jury that there is most definitely a Shirai plant/STQed in the Feds? Should do that. Optional: acquire help from Bunker B bots.

Collect as many pieces of Jury as we can find, which is hopefully all of them, and ask the androids at site seventeen if they think they could reconstruct and reactivate a unit from a different division.

So agree to the Jury hunt first off (and turn off the water, we don't need to cause any more property damage XD). Also don't forgot to retrieve the uh... "bio-camera" we acquired on this adventure (we can use it to keep an... eye on the canister while everyone else searches).

Secondly, for the fate of Edison, let's bring the canister part-way and have Dr. Finch come out and meet us with his bug-scanner (we'll want to scan Jury's parts and the federal badge as well, JUST in case). If no bugs and Dr. Finch can't guarantee the portal doors might accidentally free Edison, let's find a good nearby hiding place and we'll ask Jury if she has any connections once we get her back.
And speaking of Jury: this is probably a bit early but I'm going to guess we'll need to bring her to the P-Js for reassembly (sorry Jury, we know you weren't planning on meeting your sisters).

EDIT: Actually, let's just ask Dr. Finch to bring the truck and bug tracker with him to the school while we do the Jury hunt (and possibly a metal/android detector if he has anything like that). I doubt the canister is going to fit in the car anyway (and the truck allows one of us to sit with the canister and make sure the lid doesn't fall off).

EDIT 2: You should mention there's less than 24 hours to donate to the Kickstarter Matt. At this point it's already funded so it'd just be a nice reminder rather than obtrusive self-advertising. ^_^

I think they're probably our best bet for getting her back together properly. Dr. Finch has only dabbled a little in robotics and Fuse is more of a computer guy.

Everyone gets the hugs, that was seriously intense.

Seconding the Jury hunt, though probably get the canister off of the burning table first and onto somewhere... stable? Just on the flooded floor might work.

*shrugs*

Aaaaaand.. what's inside door #1?
Nothing?

Ask if she's okay in there.

As an aside, the canister sitting on the burning table almost looks like a rocket about to lift off.

(please don't lift off)

this feels… this feels too easy. i dunno if i’ve grown just… generally distrustful of calm resolutions, but trapping her like a bug worked far too well and far too quickly. i can see why, though, since she really had nowhere to go. she couldn’t reach the walls or the ceiling, and she couldn’t touch the floor, so with all of us standing there she was cornered and out of options.

but… i still can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t right. granted, i felt this way after the warrhouse too and that was… mostly okay. so as long as we don’t take any cellphones with us maybe we’ll be fine.
